Aviator Cares
Aviator understands that how we manage our business has an impact on our staff, customers and the environment where we operate. A sustainable business is a prerequisite for Aviator to achieve success and continued growth. To formalize our sustainability work we have created Aviator Cares. This includes the four areas: Take Care; Care for You Care for Customers, and Other Ways To Care.
Take Care: Driving Sustainability
At Aviator, we actively reduce our environmental impact through innovative solutions and sustainable practices. From investing in electrified ground support equipment to progressing toward our goal to be carbon neutral in operations by 2030, we are setting new standards for environmentally responsible aviation services.
Sustainability Award 2024: Leading in Environmental Stewardship At Aviator, sustainability drives innovation and progress. We are proud to have received the "Sustainability Award 2024" from Lufthansa Group at our Arlanda station. This award celebrates our efforts in achieving 100% fossil free turnarounds using renewable energy and operating a 60% electrified GSE fleet at ARN. Aviator’s proactive steps, including transitioning to HVO100 biofuel and adopting electric ground handling equipment, highlight our leadership in sustainable aviation services. |
Female Turnaround: Bridging the Gender Gap We are proud to lead the way in creating a more inclusive aviation industry. At Gothenburg Landvetter Airport, women now represent 22% of our ramp staff—a remarkable achievement compared to the global average of just 4.9% in similar positions. This progress reflects our dedication to fostering diversity, strengthening team dynamics, and championing women in aviation. Across Aviator, women make up 23% of our total workforce of employees. Gothenburg sets a positive example that we aim to follow across the group. By supporting initiatives like our all-female aircraft turnaround team, we continue to drive a more inclusive and balanced future for the industry. |
Green Turnaround: Advancing Sustainable Operations 100% green turnarounds (using only electric vehicles, including aft boarding stairs) have been part of our operations since 2021 when we performed our first ones for Ryanair and Norwegian at Stockholm-Arlanda airport. The full-electric turnarounds are becoming part of our operations and in 2023 our first all-electric turnaround for a Lufthansa flight was a fact. |
Carbon neutral in operations by 2030 We aim to be carbon neutral in our operations by 2030. With 57% of our Ground Support Equipment fleet already electrified and airports like Malmö and Gothenburg operating fossil-free, we are making significant progress. By transitioning to electric Ground Support Equipment, eliminating fossil fuels at key airports, and performing all-electric turnarounds, we are driving meaningful change in the aviation industry. |
Care for You: Supporting Our People
Our employees are the driving force behind Aviator’s success. Through dedicated training programs, opportunities for personal and professional growth, and well-deserved recognition of their hard work, we prioritize creating an environment where people thrive. At Aviator, we care for our people because we know their achievements propel us forward.
Employee Awards: Recognizing Excellence Our employee Trond Lunde has been honored with the prestigious "Personality of the Year" award at the Aviation Connect & Aviation Services Association Leadership Forum, ASA Excellence Awards Ceremony 2024. This recognition highlights his exceptional leadership, dedication, and professionalism, which have made a significant impact both within Aviator and across the aviation industry. |
Leadership Training: Developing Future Leaders We recognize the vital importance of equipping our supervisors and leaders with the skills to achieve outstanding results. Therefore, inaddition to our ongoing employee training programs, we have launched the Aviator Leadership program. In 2022, we proudly unveiled the long-awaited Leadership program, highlighting our commitment to nurturing and harnessing the talent within Aviator. We invest in a variety of training programs to develop talent, whether physical or digital, because we want our employees to be confident in knowing their duties well. There has been, and still is, a major change in technology due to digitalization, where Aviator has transformed many courses in to e-learning and is also exploring new digital possibilities, such as VR. |
Care for Customers: Meaningful Partnerships
We go above service delivery by building meaningful partnerships with our customers. Through innovative collaborations and impactful initiatives, we strive to create shared value and drive positive change in the aviation industry and across the globe.
NPS Score: Delivering Exceptional Customer Satisfaction The engagement survey results over the past four years show positive trends in both the Leadership Index and the Employee Satisfaction Index. The Leadership Index rose from 37.06% in 2021 to 43.00% in 2024, with some fluctuations in between. The Employee Satisfaction Index increased from 30.56% in 2021 to 64% in 2024. These improvements demonstrate our ongoing efforts to create a supportive and motivating workplace. To sustain this progress, we will continue setting achievable yearly growth targets, investing in leadership quality, and enhancing our work environment. Regular feedback analysis and targeted actions are key to achieving our future goals. |
ISO Certifications: Ensuring Quality, Safety, and Sustainability We have earned ISO certifications for Quality (ISO 9001), Environmental Management (ISO 14001), and Occupational Health and Safety (ISO 45001). These achievements, validated through audits by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), highlight our focus on safety, efficiency, and sustainability. By embedding these priorities into our culture, we continue to enhance our services and support airline operations at the highest standards. |
Norwegian Airlines Safety Award: Setting Standards in Safety Safety is our top priority, and we are honored to have received the Safety Award from Norwegian Airlines. This prestigious recognition highlights the exceptional decision-making and leadership of our KRS team, who demonstrated our safety-first philosophy by halting operations during adverse weather conditions. This achievement reflects Aviator’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding operations and setting industry benchmarks for safety. |
Other Ways to Care - The Mashimoni Initiative
At Aviator, we are committed to social sustainability and ethics externally. Our main focus is our commitments and contributions to the Mashimoni Children Center. We aim to support the center through various initiatives, including educational programs, health services, and community development projects.
Mashimoni Donation: Supporting Education and Opportunity Since 2016, Aviator has proudly supported the Mashimoni Children Center in Kenya, helping to provide education, resources, and opportunities for children in need. At the Ground Handling International Conference in Barcelona, we replaced traditional giveaways with a donation to fund classroom construction, empowering Mashimoni’s mission to nurture young minds. In 2023, our contributions included covering school fees for 59 children and four university students, organizing a memorable trip to an amusement park, and ensuring a self-sufficient water supply for the center. Aviator remains dedicated to fostering growth and hope for the Mashimoni community. |
